Progressing along each side of the canvas - working from nearest to the center and towards each corner - fix staples roughly two inches apart whilst pulling the canvas fairly firmly with the canvas pliers. If the canvas you are framing pictures stretching is large do not complete one side before moving on to the next. Alternate the sides which you are working on by fixing two staples in one side before moving on to the next.
Now you should have staples running along the full length of all four sides of the canvas. All that remains is to tidy up the corners; to do this, fold the canvas at the corner of the canvas flat and fix in 2 staples to keep the canvas in place.
